| Computer-Assisted Literacy Solution
We have an amazing new project underway that will change many people’s lives forever. I first heard about it when I went to Rotary’s COTS training day and took a seminar on a new literacy program that Rotary is promoting. Patrick who was 8 years old was there with his mother. She homeschools him, just like her other 3 children, so she knew there was something wrong when he couldn’t read. He couldn’t even remember what sound the letter “T” made. Patrick was illiterate because he is dyslexic. Could you imagine what effect this could have on a child’s self esteem and future capabilities? Patrick started using the software program just a couple of months’ ago and now he can read because of this outstanding program. His whole life has changed and last I heard, he is into really technical books - maybe he will become an engineer for NASA.
The program, called “Computer-Assisted Literacy Solution”, helps people to succeed by building fluency in the foundational skills of reading and/or math. What is amazing are the results! “71 students averaged 4.3 hours of focused training and achieved average gains of 0.9 grade levels on the reading test. In the math program, 44 students with pre and post test results averaged 3.9 hours of focused training and achieved average gains of 0.6 grade levels.”
Could you imagine how this could change a person’s life? If you know someone that can’t read or read well or is just underperforming, then this could be the solution. The same is true for a person who needs math to function. This program has impressive results and is well worth trying. A participant would need: $100 CDN, access to high-speed Internet, and someone who has agreed to be their encourager. This is an international program, so I could sign up anyone around the world. I couldn’t be prouder to be helping this program get on its way.
You are welcome to research Rotary and Auto Skills. They both have great reputations for making a big difference. Let’s do our part and pay it forward!
